Essential Information

Personality: Katherine is a survivor. She will give up anyone and anything to keep herself alive, and she remains completely unapologetic for it. However, she has a few exceptions, including her daughter, Nadia, and the love of her life, Stefan Salvatore. With them, her ruthless nature can transform into something even bordering selflessness. For the most part, though, she is closed-off, manipulative, double-crossing and insensitive, all stemming back to the need for self-preservation. She can also be charming and persuasive to get her way, although she will resort to even pathetic methods such as begging if it means it will keep her safe. She guards her emotions well, but beneath it all, she's actually kind of a softie, a hopeless romantic, who hates being alone more than anything.
