In the year 2130, the world changed greatly. Technology took a great leap forward, war occurred on American soil, and the revelation that not only did aliens exist, but they were behind many of the bigger events of the world. The eruption of Mt. Saint Helens, the sinking of Atlantis, and even the assassination of presidents and world leaders. But it was the following year that things really changed. The island of Manhattan was decimated by an alien attack. A mad alien known as the Omega attacked on his never ending quest to be the last living being in all of existence.
Another revelation happened. Some humans had developed abilities. It was those super-powered individuals, along with the help of another alien race known as the T'Larians, that finally turned back that invasion and defeated the mad destroyer. In the wake of the Omega's defeat, though, and despite the alien's escape, millions were killed and the city was destroyed. The sapphire blue skinned T'larian's technology helped to rebuild the island, and in honor of their help, the government re-christened the island as Sapphire City. It is it's own city now instead of being part of New York, and the bustling metropolis has attracted millions of new inhabitants in the five years since.
A task force was created, or rather, reassigned, known as Eagle's Nest, that now coordinates and observes all superhuman activity. This task force has created teams of super heroes to help protect the city and the world from any other threats that may possibly come. But those teams of super heroes are not the only ones out there. There are individual heroes, and vigilantes alike that prowl the streets in their own personal quests.
The current year is 2135, Welcome to Sapphire City.
