Essential Information
Personality: Tommy is a spontaneous, cunning, tactical and excitable individual. His actions are seemingly all improvisational while, in reality, almost everything he does is purposeful and methodical. He is extremely talented at reading people and inspiring them. He wants to see people for who they really and to encourage them to allow their true nature to break free from the conditioning of society. Tommy is an entertainer and speaks with a natural charisma, though he is also incredibly restless and desperate to keep his mind always active so as to suppress those things he'd rather not consider. He has a deep aversion to pain, and an inherent selfishness to him, as well as an even deeper bout of self-loathing and depressive outlook on life. He can be very violent, unpredictable, and has frequent mood swings--one minute he's soaring in a sort of euphoric high, and the next he's fierce and murderous. He resents those who feel entitled and who resort to hypocrisy. Tommy genuinely desires to free the world from its inhibitions, allowing people to be true to themselves and the powerful to fall. He looks favorably on the recent apocalypse, appreciating its chaotic qualities.
Family: Brian and Marilyn Jenkins (no siblings), Holly (wife), 'Ace' and 'Chuckles' (dogs)
History: Tommy had a very unhealthy family life. His father was an angry drunk and, though he was never physically abusive to him, he was to his mother. If Tommy attempted to intervene, his father would simply deal out his punishments more severely on the woman. It was a small town life, with a small town mentality that Tommy felt very confined within. Finally, when he turned 16 and afters years of him trying to persuade her, his mother gathered the courage to leave his father. They moved near her family in Washington, D.C., and Tommy attended the High School there. He enjoyed the big city, feeling like he had finally found a place he could call home. He was a bit of a troublemaker in High School and many rumors were made up about him, causing some of the other kids his age to feel intimidated by him. However, Tommy didn't mind, he found he enjoyed the effect he could cause.
The year he turned 18, after graduating, his mother was raped and killed by a group of thugs. The offenders were prosecuted, much to his satisfaction, but were released a couple of months later on the grounds of a mistrial. This spurned the first measure of discontent in Tommy over the unreliability and corruption of the judicial system. Even despite this, he held firm to his belief in the ability of the world to be redeemed, and so he made it his life's purpose to obtain true justice and really stand for his views. He wanted to make a change. He decided to enlist in the army and really serve his nation in its fight against evil; he wanted to protect it.
In 2001, after a couple years of dedicated training and following the events of the 9/11 tragedy, Tommy was sent to Afghanistan, where he rose swiftly in the ranks, showing a knack for leadership and for inspiring the other troops with his ideals. He was eventually charged with the handling of top secret, government data and received his own special ops team. Tommy obediently followed all orders he was given and was privy to several government secrets which, despite his disagreement with some of the things he had learned, he remained firm in his beliefs and continued to trust that his nation was maintaining its stance on doing whatever was in the best interest of its people. He was also deeply connected to the team he was leading, they looked up to him and he felt very responsible for them all.
However, Tommy and his team were one day captured by the enemy, becoming prisoners of war and being made to endure torture over the next two years for the information they had. They were all specifically trained not to reveal anything, and so no one in his team spoke up about any of it. Tommy made a point of keeping them hopeful, of keeping their spirits up, conveying himself as strong and lively in order to keep giving them a reason to smile, even as he watched each of them die one by one until only one other was left with him. The two orchestrated an escape, but they happened across the last of the guards in the camp, who told them that Tommy and his team had been 'sold out' by their military faction for an extensive price. They killed him, and Tommy desperately resisted what he'd been told.
When they neared their former base, they were discovered and identified and a gunner was sent out to kill Tommy and the sole surviving member of his team. They managed to shoot down his teammate, but Tommy took advantage of the momentary opening and overtook the gunner, demanding why he had been ordered to kill them, before having it revealed that he and his men had been sold out after all. In a rage, Tommy killed the man and then made his way to the base. He knew the ins and outs of the place and so rigged it to blow, killing everyone there with a single, practiced shot.
He felt the betrayal very deeply and a hardened resentment and resolve grew. He wanted to wage war on the nation who'd destroyed everything he'd stood for. Tommy made his way back to the states and began to cause disruptions in the cities he happened across, D.C. his goal. When he finally arrived, though, he was detained and, after an official court hearing, was declared insane and sent to an asylum. However, after extensive therapy, the doctors stated that he was stable enough to return to society, but with scheduled appointments with a psychiatrist. He was labeled as having a severe case of PTSD, though they had been fooled into overlooking the anti-social aspects to his condition--the complete shattering of the things he stood for and the physical pain causing Tommy to exhibit sociopathic qualities. Tommy was obliging and simply bided his time until he would be free again, convincing his doctors that, with meds and with time, he'd be a fully functioning member of society once again. He met with Holly, his psychiatrist, and almost immediately fell for her. He eventually persuaded her to open up to him, revealing troubles of her own, troubles which he resolved to help her with through encouraging her to simply release her inhibitions and obligations and free who she really was.
Holly eventually ran away with him, escaping the city to cause havoc in another. They were married a short time later, and continued to move from place to place until the zombie apocalypse hit, destroying society and the government and serving to create the very world Tommy had envisioned. Tommy decided to train Holly to use a variety of weapons, his military training granting him an advanced proficiency.
